The Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov met with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to Sofia H.E. Alejandro Polanco.
During the meeting the support declared by Spain for Bulgaria's accession to Schengen was discussed, which is one of the priorities of the current Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, highlighting the importance of this accession for strengthening European unity.
Among the topics discussed were the upcoming reforms in the Constitution of the Republic of Bulgaria related to the judiciary, as well as the fight against cross-border organized crime, corruption and terrorism.
In the course of the talks between the Bulgarian Prosecutor General and the Spanish Ambassador, the traditionally good relations and excellent cooperation between the law enforcement authorities of the two countries were highlighted.
Borislav Sarafov reaffirmed the readiness of the Bulgarian prosecution to cooperate actively with the European partners in dealing with international crime and the resulting challenges for law enforcement authorities.
