The World Jewish Congress /WJC/ sent an official letter to the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Bulgaria in order to express  gratitude for his efforts to combat anti-Semitism and the attempts of Bulgarian National Union  Edelweiss BNU to impose hate speech in  society.

In an official letter the World Jewish Congress /WJC/ expressed his gratitude and acknowledgement to the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Bulgaria Ivan Geshev for his efforts to combat anti-Semitism and the attempts of the Bulgarian National Union “Edelweiss” to impose hate speech /BNU/.

Mr Maram Stern, Vice-President of the WJC, emphasizes that the request to Sofia City Court for suspending the BNS's activities, points "clearly and specifically the efforts of the current Bulgarian administration in combating the increasing of extreme right-wing and anti-Semitic movements in Eastern Europe ".

“Lukov March has served as an annual hatefest, making Bulgaria a gathering point for extreme right groups. Further, members of the BNU openly support Holocaust denial and thus underestimate the courageous Bulgarians who risked safeguarding their fellow Jewish citizens, which defiles the memory of these “righteous among nations”.
