BORIS VELCHEV

 

Mr. Boris Velchev was born on 26th April 1962 in Sofia.

He graduated as a Master in Law from the Law Faculty of the Sofia University "St. Climent Ohridski", Sofia, in 1987 and acquired capacity as a legal practitioner in 1990.

Between 1988 and 1990 he worked as an adviser at the Legal Department of the Council of Ministers.

Beginning in 1990 he consequently worked as an assistant, senior assistant, head assistant and associate professor in Criminal Law and International Criminal Law at Sofia University "St. Climent Ohridski", as well as, in Veliko Tarnovo University "St. St. Cyrillus and Methodius".

Since 2002 he has been Chairman of the Legal Council of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria.

He was a member of the Consultative Council on Legislation in the 39th, the 40th National Assembly and Chairman of the legal section of the Union of the Scientists.

After his election for a Prosecutor General of the Republic of Bulgaria by the Supreme Judicial Council, on 23rd February 2006, Boris Velchev assumed office.
